About Citco Agro

A Ugandan agricultural export company built on farmer partnerships, quality discipline, and honest trade.

Our Story

Bridging Ugandan farms and global tables.

Citco Agro Solutions Ltd was founded in Kampala with a simple observation: some of the world's finest coffee, cocoa, vanilla, avocado and chilli grow along Uganda's fertile ridges — yet farmers rarely capture fair value, and international buyers struggle to find a partner they can trust for consistency.

We set out to fix both problems at once. By working directly with cooperatives and organized farmer groups, we can guarantee traceability from the tree to the container. By investing in quality control, we can guarantee that every shipment lands exactly as specified.

Today, we serve importers, roasters, chocolatiers, spice blenders and produce distributors across Europe, the Middle East and Asia — and we are just getting started.

Ugandan coffee farmers
Based in Kampala

Rooted in Uganda's capital, connected to the world.

Our head office sits at the heart of East Africa's most vibrant trade corridor. From Kampala we coordinate sourcing across the country, quality control in-house, and export logistics to Mombasa and Dar es Salaam.

🎯

Our Mission

To be the most reliable, ethical and quality-focused agricultural export partner between Uganda and the world — creating consistent value for buyers and consistent income for farmers.

🌍

Our Vision

A Uganda where every farmer growing world-class produce has direct, dignified access to global markets — and where "Ugandan origin" is a globally recognized mark of quality.

💚

Our Promise

Honest specs. On-time shipments. Full documentation. Farmer-fair pricing. If it doesn't meet the contract, it doesn't leave the warehouse.

What Drives Us

Four principles behind every shipment.

01

Traceability

Every lot is tagged from cooperative → warehouse → container. We can name the farmer group behind your coffee.

02

Consistency

Strict grading, moisture and defect control. What we ship this quarter is what we ship next quarter.

03

Fair Sourcing

Direct payments to farmers at above-average farmgate rates. No exploitation, no anonymous middlemen.

04

Logistics-First

We move product, not paperwork. FOB, CIF and DAP terms supported to major ports worldwide.

Our Approach

From farm gate to your port.

  1. 1

    Sourcing

We work with vetted cooperatives across Uganda's key growing regions — Mt. Elgon, Rwenzori, West Nile, Bundibugyo, and central Uganda.

  2. 2

    Grading

Produce is graded at our Kampala facility: physical sorting, moisture control, defect removal, and screen sizing where applicable.

  3. 3

    Testing

Every batch is sampled for aflatoxin, moisture, pesticide residue and pathogens through independent labs.

  4. 4

    Packing

Bags, liners, or vacuum packing per your specification. Buyer branding and private-label supported.

  5. 5

    Documentation

Phytosanitary, Certificate of Origin, EUR.1 (where applicable), fumigation certificate, commercial invoice, and packing list — all handled.

  6. 6

    Shipping

FOB from Mombasa or Dar es Salaam. Cold-chain reefers coordinated for fresh produce. CIF and DAP on request.

Where We Source

Uganda's growing regions, mapped.

We work with farmer cooperatives across five distinct agro-ecological zones — each contributing its own crop profile and microclimate advantage.

Mt. Elgon (East)

Altitude: 1,500–2,300m

Volcanic soil and cool climate produce Uganda's finest Arabica — the Bugisu region. Bright acidity, citrus and chocolate notes.

Crops: Arabica coffee

Rwenzori (West)

Altitude: 1,200–2,000m

The “Mountains of the Moon” region, straddling the DRC border. Bukonzo Arabica is full-bodied, wine-like, richly aromatic.

Crops: Arabica coffee

Bundibugyo (West)

Altitude: 700–1,200m

Uganda's cocoa heartland, in the humid Semliki Valley. Also a rising vanilla origin. Warm, wet, biodiverse.

Crops: Cocoa, vanilla

West Nile (Northwest)

Altitude: 900–1,400m

Nebbi and Zombo Robusta — low-acid, earthy, bold. Ideal for espresso blends and instant coffee.

Crops: Robusta coffee, sesame

Central Belt

Altitude: 1,100–1,400m

Wakiso, Mukono, Mpigi — diversified smallholder farms. The Hass avocado and Robusta belt around Kampala.

Crops: Avocado, Robusta, vanilla

Northern Uganda

Altitude: 900–1,200m

Gulu, Lira, Soroti — dry-season chilli and sesame country. Hot days, low humidity produce vivid pungency and clean drying.

Crops: Cayenne chilli, sesame

Kampala, Uganda
Why Uganda

The Pearl of Africa is a supply-chain edge.

Uganda sits on the equator with year-round growing conditions, rich volcanic soils, and elevations that produce some of the world's most sought-after specialty crops. The country's agricultural sector supports more than 70% of the working population — giving buyers access to a deep, resilient supply base.

  • Climate: Two rainy seasons and consistent 20–25°C temperatures mean two harvests a year for many crops.
  • Elevation: Highland regions between 1,200–2,300m are ideal for premium coffee, cocoa and vanilla.
  • Biodiversity: Traditional shade-grown farming preserves soil and produces distinctive flavor profiles.
  • Trade access: Mombasa (Kenya) and Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) ports connect Uganda to Europe, Middle East and Asia.
  • Preferential access: EBA (EU), AGOA (US), COMESA and EAC trade agreements reduce buyer duty burden.
